An audience with Florence White political campaigner

July 18 @ 10:30 am2:00 pm
Black-and-white photograph of a woman dressed in vintage-style clothing, including a hat, round glasses, and gloves, holding a protest sign. The sign reads: “WE WANT JUSTICE FOR THE SPINSTER! PENSIONS AT 55.” She appears to be speaking or addressing a crowd, with a blurred outdoor background of trees behind her. The image evokes a historical or theatrical campaign for women's rights and social equality.

Come and meet former mill worker Florence White, a forgotten Bradford trailblazer, fought tirelessly for justice for ‘spinsters’ forced to work until 70. Born into poverty and leaving school at 12, she used education and politics to win retirement at 60 for women nationwide. Meet the remarkable woman who challenged the establishment — and won.
