Low Moor Local History Group: Low Moor Munitions Explosion Walk
September 19 @ 10:30 am – 12:00 pm

Join Low Moor Local History Group for a guided walk exploring the devastating 1916 munitions factory explosion that killed 40 people, including six firemen. Visit locations affected by the blast and uncover the story of the factory, the surrounding community and a tragedy whose original site now lies beneath landfill.
Meeting Point: Victoria Park Oakenshaw, Cleckheaton Road, Low Moor, Bradford, West Yorkshire, BD12 7AT.
There is a small car park. The turning is almost opposite Furnace Road. If coming by train to Low Moor Station there is an exit into the park from platform 2. Turn right and then left into the park. Please meet in the car park but there is an opportunity prior to the walk to look at old maps in the nearby bowling hut.
